Well here it is – my new site for my cycling challenge. It is the first step to realising my next dream of adventure and exploration. I have told friends of my plans to cycle to Australia and I am in contact with many people who have done similar long distance cycle rides. I am building a strong library of essential info and advice for both the route and the countries I will be pedalling through. As for when I will leave the UK – my start date is scheduled for March 26th 2014.
Why am I doing this?
Well I have sailed round the world in a yacht race and have cycled c2500miles in the UK from my home in Essex to John O’Groats and on to Lands End before returning home. Both these trips took me out of my comfort zone and has given me the desire to try another adventure.
At 59 (a little late perhaps) you realise you are only on this earth once and you really need to see it to the full to appreciate its people and its beauty, sometimes in all its harsh reality.

Don’t forget they cycle on the “wrong” side of the road once you cross the channel, I wouldn’t want a repeat of the Lee Valley Trail head on crash again.
